Robbie Doyle:

The Irish folksinger Robbie Doyle was born in Co. Kilkenny Ireland.
He grew up in West-Clare on the Atlantic coast, sometimes referred to as the home of Irish traditional music and song. While he was still very young, the Doyle family moved to West-Waterford, not far from the Gaelic speaking area of Ring, where Robbie discovered his rich natural talents as a cultural artist, appearing on stage at concerts, theatre productions and local events. On moving to Dublin in the early 1970’s, Robbie became a well known figure on the thriving traditional music and ballad scene in which he took a very active part.
With the growing popularity of Irish folk music at this time Robbie left Ireland with a bagful of music, songs, stories and humour to share with the world. Over the years he has played and recorded with a number of different folk groups and has gained a wealth of top class professional experience
and stage-craft. He has also recorded and appeared in the Deutschlandhalle / Berlin / Germany with Germany’s great songwriter Reinhard Mey. Robbie Doyle is renowned for his outstanding singing voice and has captivated audiences throughout Europe, Australia and the USA, making many appearances on Radio and TV. He is accompanied in concerts by some of Irelands and Germanys most talented professional musicians and also plays a variety of instruments himself, including Irish flutes and Bodhran (trad. Irish hand drum ). Robbie works on a regular basis with the cultural department of the embassy of Ireland / Germany on various Irish cultural projects.
